Watch: X-MEN: APOCALYPSE Comic-Con Panel

This year 20th Century Fox continued their tradition of interrupting filming on X-Men to bring the massive cast to San Diego Comic-Con. This year they only brought 14 actors from X-Men: Apocalypse, along with director Bryan Singer and writer/producer Simon Kinberg. They showed some early footage (of which you can read a description here), and spoke briefly about their characters and what we can expect from the movie.

But first, they brought out Hugh Jackman to...do something. I think he was promoting the X-Men: Days of Future Past Rogue Cut, but it was mostly just a tribute to the man who played Wolverine. When the cast of Apocalypse came out, there was some intense awkwardness over whether he would stay for the panel and where he would sit...in the end, he did not stay.

Getting back to Apocalypse, we know that the movie is set in 1983 in a world in which people have mostly accepted mutants due to Mystique’s actions at the end of Days of Future Past. We know that it is a time of relative peace for some of our most strident agitators, and we know that young versions of major characters from the original X-Men trilogy will play important roles in this story, including Jean Grey, Cyclops, Nightcrawler, and Storm. Oscar Isaac, who plays the titular villain, said of his character’s role in the film, “The world we have isn’t the world that’s supposed to be. God’s been asleep. God wakes up and says it’s gotta change.”

I can’t wait!

Here’s the full list of actors at the panel: Isaac, Evan Peters, Lucas Till, Kodi Smit-McPhee, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Olivia Munn, Ben Hardy, Alexandra Shipp, Sophie Turner, Lana Condor, Tye Sheridan, and Nicholas Hoult.

Watch the whole thing to hear what other actors have to say about their characters (McAvoy in particular has some good thoughts), how the young cast feels about living up to the older cast, and why feminists will always hate Olivia Munn.
