Watch: Young Love Ebbs and Flows in 6 YEARS Trailer

The Duplass Brothers continue to expand their indie empire. They executive produced 6 Years, a new romance from writer/director Hannah Fidell (A Teacher) that stars Taissa Farmiga and Ben Rosenfield. The new trailer just arrived courtesy of Yahoo Movies, and I'm getting a vibe similar to the 2011 romance Like Crazy from this one, and not just because Rosenfield looks a little like Anton Yelchin with his crazy curly hair. Farmiga was tremendous in The Final Girls, so I'm very interested in seeing how her career progresses.

I'm guessing the overall plot isn't going to be as important as the small in-between moments here, but the improv-heavy style looks like it paid off with a small-scale emotional roller coaster. If you're tired of seeing the whole world threatened with extinction in movies lately, this seems like the perfect antidote.

6 Years will be available On Demand and on iTunes starting August 18th.

A young couple in their early 20s, Dan and Melanie, have known each other since childhood.  Now their 6-year romantic relationship is put to the test when Dan receives an attractive job offer from the record label with whom he interns, and he must choose between a move forward and a future with Mel.  Growth and temptation happen – but will their relationship remain part of their future?
Writer/director Hannah Fidell explores the struggles of young love as it begins to face the next steps into adulthood.  Taissa Farmiga and Ben Rosenfield give warm, genuine performances as Mel and Dan, alongside Lindsay Burdge (star of Fidell’s A Teacher) as a colleague of Dan’s who entices him in more ways than one.
