WB and New Line Are Moving Forward with a MORTAL KOMBAT Sequel

Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema are officially moving forward with a sequel to its 2021 remake of Mortal Kombat. I don’t know if you watched the movie or not, but it was a shit show. That movie sucked ass, and I could not care less if we got a sequel.

The studio hired Jeremy Slater to write Mortal Kombat 2. He was the head writer on Marvel’s upcoming Moon Knight series and also worked on The Umbrella Academy series. He is also writing and directing a film for Screen Gems titled Thread, which James Wan is producing. Some of the other projects he’s been working on include the Netflix/21 Laps film Uprising with Travis Knight directing, and an adaption of Stephen King’s The Tommyknockers for Universal.

Slater seems like he’s got some good writing talent, but Mortal Kombat is very much a studio driven project with studio executives making the call on many of the creative decisions, so I’m not expecting the sequel to be any better than the first one. If it is, cool!

What did you think about the first Mortal Kombat movie and are you excited about this sequel that’s moving forward?
