We May See the Shazam Family in SHAZAM! as New Casting is Revealed!
Screen Rant is reporting that the DCEU may be adding five superheroes to its roster in Shazam!. Nothing is confirmed, but if their sources are correct, we can expect Adam Brody, Michelle Borth, Ross Butler, D. J. Cotrona and Meagan Good to be the adult superhero versions of Billy Batson’s foster family from the New 52 story. The actors were spotted in Toronto around the same time and they all recently followed each other on Instagram according to the report. If the report is true, then these are the most likely matchups: Freddy Freeman (Jack Dylan Grazer) will transform into Brody, Broth will be the older version of Mary Bromfield (Grace Fulton), Ian Chen’s Eugene Choy will age into Butler, Cotrona will be Pedro (Jovan Armand), and Darla Dudley (Faithe Herman) will age into Good.
“We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Asher Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Zachary Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Mark Strong).”
Do you think we’ll see the Shazam Family in action? Will it just be at the end of the film? Is this all just a red herring?
Shazam! comes to theaters April 5, 2019.
