We Now Know What Captain America is Protecting on Wakanda in AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR
A lot of fans have speculated that the Soul Stone is on Wakanda and that's what Captain American and Black Panther are fighting to protect from Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War. Well, I'm here to tell you are wrong, and director Anthony Russo reveals what it is that they are protecting. If you don't want to know, then don't read ahead:
While the Soul Stone resides somewhere in the MCU, it's not on Wakanda. While talking to EW, Anthony Russo reveals that Captain America brings Vision to Wakanda to protect him from Thanos and his Black Order.
"Cap makes the decision to bring [Vision] here to Wakanda. Earth is making its last stand to keep the stone from Thanos. It’s the best place to make your last stand."
It totally makes sense that Cap would want to take Vision to Wakanda to protect him. After all, it's one of the most powerful and technologically advanced places in the MCU. But that won't stop them from engaging in hand to hand combat!
As I'm, sure you've already figured out, Thanos wants the Mind Stone, which helped bring Vision to life. We've seen in the trailers for the film that it doesn't look like the protection works out very well because we see the stone about to be ripped from Visions forehead as he screams. If Thanos gets that stone, Vision will die. Russo then explains how integral Vision is to the story saying:
"Vision is a living MacGuffin. Obviously, that raises the stakes because Vision’s life is in danger, and his life is in conflict with Thanos’ goals, so something’s got to give."
I can't wait to see how this story arc plays out! As for the Soul Stone, it's still out there in the MCU and I think that is one Stone that Thanos will go after personally.
Avengers: Infinity War will be released on April 27, 2018.
