We Now Know What The Ancient Japan Park in WESTWORLD Will Be Called

We know from the original film that there is a lot more to Westworld than just an old west-themed land. There is also a Feudal Japan-themed land, but in the HBO series, it isn’t called what you might think.

We got a brief glimpse behind the scenes of the theme-park world-building in the season 1 finale. The rebelling androids passed a room full of traditional Japanese warriors in training where you could see the initials "SW" marking the whole section.

Based on those warriors attire, it's pretty obvious that most would assume that "SW" stood for "Samurai World," but that is actually incorrect. The actual name has been revealed to be "Shogunworld." If you aren't clear what shogun is, I can explain. Shogun is a term used to describe military commanders in feudal Japan.

It's still not clear if we’ll actually see Shogunworld in season 2, or any of the other five theme parks besides Westworld. But HBO’s teased "Park 2" earlier this month on their social media accounts with this image that might just be a region in a simulated version of Japan:

In the original 1973 film, there were two other parks in addition to Westworld; Roman World and Medieval World, both of which have not even been mentioned in the series so far. I've also heard rumors of a Viking World.

Westworld season 2 premieres on HBO on April 22.
