Wearing The Monster Suit In THE SHAPE OF WATER Sounds Like A Nightmare

While they look awesome on screen, you'll hear frequent complaints from actors who wear superhero costumes or monster outfits that the garb is not all that comfortable. While no complaints have been heard from actor Doug Jones about his monster outfit, Cinemablend reports The Shape Of Water director Guillermo Del Toro began to realize just how tough things were when a body double did a dance scene:

He got into the suit, did one pirouette, and then proceeded to projectile vomit.

Turns out wearing the suit is an absolute nightmare. Putting it on takes three hours and requires extensive amounts of KY jelly to fit it onto Doug Jones' body. Once its on, Jones has vision and hearing trouble, so he's practically doing his lines without sight or sound in the film. Additionally, when the suit gets wet, it becomes much heavier than it is regularly, which puts a great deal of stress on Jones and obviously that dancer.

Judging from the reviews from critics, it appears as though it was all worth it, although I still feel bad for that actor who puked everywhere. Would you put up with all that just to make a film?
