Well, That Was a Welcome and Cool Surprise Reveal in the Latest HAWKEYE Episode!
The movie recent episode of Marvel Hawkeye dropped yesterday, and it features an awesome reveal that Marvel fans have been waiting for. This was the fifth episode of the series, and it was titled “Ronin.”
There were a couple things in this episode that stuck out to me. The first is that we got some additional backstory on Yelena (Florence Pugh) and what she was doing during the events of Avengers: Infinity War, before the blip. The second thing is that we learn who hired her to kill Clint Barton, a.k.a. Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), and who that person is involved with.
If you haven’t watch the most recent episode of Hawkeye, you might want to skip this because there are spoilers ahead!
In the episode, we learn that Yelena was on a mission to help free Black Widow assassins whose minds are still locked up. It’s during one of these missions that Thanos snaps his fingers with the Infinity Gauntlet and Yelena was one of many who was wiped out of existence for five years. We then see her blipped back into existence right at the place where she blipped out. That was interesting to see, and this is the point where she learns that Natasha is dead.
Then there’s the big reveal at the end of the episode! After Yelena and Kate Bishop get to know a little bit about each other during a “girls night,“ the assassin gives Kate a heads up on who hired her to kill Clint… it was Kate’s mom! I suspected from the beginning, but what I didn’t expect was the big reveal to come with that!
You see, Yelena also sends a photo to Kate that shows her mom meeting with none other than Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. Kingpin, and Vincent D'Onofrio is back in the role!
That was so cool and quite a pleasant surprise. Now, I can’t wait to see how exactly he’ll be utilized in the story. It also makes me wonder if Fisk is working with Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Valentina Allegra de Fontaine who is building a team that also includes U.S. Agent.
Hopefully, we get to actually see a couple of scenes that involve him in the series! I love that Marvel is finally opening up the Netflix world of the MCU and that some of those character, will in fact, be coming back for more.
Now that Kingpin is back in play, what would you like to see Marvel do with him as these Marvel stories continue to be told?
