Wesley Snipes Shares Headline Calling For Marvel To Cancel Mahershala Ali's BLADE Movie

So, this is funny! Blade star Wesley Snipes recently shared the headline of an article on social media calling for Marvel Studios to cancel Mahershala Ali’s MCU reboot of Blade and to bring him back instead.

I’m now going to give you a SPOILER WARNING before you go on.

You see, Wesley Snipes does in fact reprise his role as Blade in Deadpool & Wolverine and there’s a hilarious line that he delivers that had the audiences bust up in laughter.

"There's only been one Blade. Only ever gonna be one Blade."

Now it seems like Snipes may be taking that line a little more seriously than it was intended. But, at the same time… I would love to see Snipes continue to play Blade!

Snipes shared a comment with his post, “Ya, all crazy! hahaha.”

In the film, when Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) and Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) are sent to the Void by Mr. Paradox (Matthew Macfadyen), they discover that a group of Multiverse Variants have teamed up to fight against Cassandra Nova (Emma Corrin).

That team consists of Elektra (Jennifer Garner), X-23 (Dafne Keen), Gambit (Channing Tatum) and Blade, once again played by Snipes.

With Marvel Studios developing a Blade movie with Ali set to take over the role in the MCU, I think most fans understood that Snipes’ return was pretty much just a fun one-off.

Snipes was obviously having a little fun with the post, and why wouldn’t he have fun with it? But, the comments show that a lot of fans would prefer to see Snipes return as Blade again rather than be replaced by another actor.

Marvel Studios has had some issues getting Ali’s Blade movie off the ground with directors coming and going and delay after delay.

When talking about that, Kevin Feige previously said: “For the last few years, as we’ve been trying to crack that movie, the most important thing for us is not rushing it. And making sure we are making the right Blade movie.

“There were some great Blade movies years ago… they were all rated R. So I think that’s inherent–like Deadpool–inherent with the character of Blade.”

He added: “It's part of the process. And when you have a character as famous as Blade, and an actor as famous as Mahershala, everything that happens just gets a lot of attention.

“I'm sure you've heard us talk about, we were struggling finding the perfect reason for Deadpool to exist, for the third Deadpool movie in the MCU, and then Hugh Jackman called, and it fell into place.

“Sometimes you need that magic thing that falls into place. And sometimes it happens – sometimes it takes a day. Sometimes it takes two years. Sometimes it takes 10 years. But that's what you really should be waiting for, until you make something.”

Would you want to see Marvel continue to push for this Mahershala Ali version of Blade, or would you rather them just bring Snipes back to keep playing the character?
