What Does Dan Aykroyd Think of the New GHOSTBUSTERS Cast?
We recently learned that Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones have joined the cast of Paul Feige's Ghostbusters reboot. Fans don't seem too happy with the casting, or the direction that the movie is going. I'm not really that excited about it either. It's going to be interesting to see how well this movie does at the box office. As you know, Dan Aykroyd has been trying to get a third Ghostbusters movie off the ground for years. He wasn't able to make it happen, so a reboot is on the way. When I first heard the casting news, I was curious to see what he thought of it, and this is what he had to say in an interview with THR:
"The Aykroyd family is delighted by this inheritance of the Ghostbusters torch by these most magnificent women in comedy.
"My great grandfather, Dr. Sam Aykroyd, the original Ghostbuster, was a man who empowered women in his day, and this is a beautiful development in the legacy of our family business.”
So that's what he thinks about it. I'm all for the empowerment of woman, but what Feige and Sony are doing by attempting to reboot this franchise is disheartening. I'm just such a huge fan of Ghostbusters, and it's hard for me to accept that this is really happening. I would have much rather seen another sequel.
