What If STAR WARS Characters Played SUPER SMASH? Episodes VII-IX
Rey, Finn, Poe, and BB-8 are all huddled around a small fire as the snow descends slowly around them. Then a red glow appears in the distance, as it comes closer they all stand up to see what it is. Poe pulls out a salvaged set of macrobinoculars and looks. He sees Kylo Ren, not with his lightsaber, but instead a large screen that is fully red with the word Switch bouncing on it. Rey looks at them, “He wants us to come over and battle him, with a game.”
So here is our last installment of Star Wars characters playing Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Here are our totally subjective/own opinions on what the characters from Episodes VII-IX would pick in an all-out Super Smash fight.
Rey - Pit
There are a number of reasons our protagonist of this trilogy would be the angelic boy Pit. They both use long, ended weapons, but are also just as handy with a single blade(s). They are both pure in heart (as far as we know for Rey). They both wear white, robe-like clothes. But I think Rey would pick Pit mostly because he looks like an angel, a hero, a person that has power and can save people, and I feel that is what Rey is looking for and trying to be.
Finn - Captain Falcon
Finn is a nice guy, and he fights well enough, but his training (or lack thereof) as a Stormtrooper doesn’t always translate well to being a rebel. Captain Falcon is a professional racer who has stepped onto the battlefield with grandiose punches and kicks. I think Finn would just like the smooth, quick style of this outsider, and he would “WOOO!” every time he hit someone with a Falcon Punch.
Poe Dameron - Roy
Poe is a stand-up guy, he wants to do what’s right, but he also has a bit of an attitude. I felt like Roy has always been a good guy. But we also see that he has no problem putting himself in danger and even hurting himself to get the job done, being fairly reckless and doing things his own way. This is exactly like Poe’s flying style, ready to get the job done even with a lot of risks involved.
BB-8 - Jigglypuff
Who is there just for fun and seems to try to be a part of the group but never does anything? Who also rolls around and once in a while does something crazy insane and wrecks everyone? Jigglypuff. Even though Kirby may speak to BB-8’s personality and vibe a little bit more, the rolling, it is all about rolling and rocket launching people to death by smashing them with a roll attack or other odd ways. BB-8 would love the oddness of Jigglypuff and all her weird moves and attacks.
Kylo Ren - Cloud Strife
Who is the most angsty and broodish? My man Cloud and the Skywalker himself, Kylo Ren. Excessive swords? Complicated past with mentor issues? Left the group where they learned everything to find their own thing and wear lots of flowing black leather? Kylo would for sure pick the former Shinra soldier to beat the crap out of his opponents with giant, powerful slashes.
General Hux - Wario
Hux would probably want to choose Bowser because he thinks he is as big and bad as the notorious turtle. But he would then sneeze and end up on the more fitting Wario, a person totally obsessed with trying to look bad and evil, but who ends up being the laughing stock and comical for how absurd his “evil” really is.
Captain Phasma - Samus Aran
Captain Phasma could pick a number of different people on the roster, but the one who fits best is our favorite armored bounty hunter, Samus Aran. With the options of guns and gadgets and some sick armor, Captain Phasma wouldn’t pick anybody but her, except maybe Dark Samus.
Supreme Leader Snoke - King K. Rool
When we think of evil leaders, we normally think of leaders with countless minions. Snoke isn’t the only one with armies of minions. Basically, all Star Wars villains have a vast number of disposable people, but Snoke basically never gets his hands dirty until the very last moment, ever, and that reminded me a lot of King K. Rool. They both also think their super evil nature makes them much better than everyone else.
