WHAT THE GOLF?'s Level Builder Impressions
What The Golf is a pleasantly surprising game that takes the simplest concepts of golf and takes them in every possible direction imaginable. Between the lengthy and challenging campaign, the wickedly fun multiplayer, and well-crafted single-player challenges, this game came out of nowhere an incredible amount of entertaining hours.
Now, there is early access to its level creator. Players can work on creating fairly large but simple levels, changing its length, size, adding a variety of objects that are static, move or players have to interact with in order to progress. It is a delightful addition and a great way to revitalize the game.
The creator is extremely intuitive and easy to pick up. I was able to make a functioning level with a series of obstacles and twists and turns in a matter of minutes. It was pretty simple, but it was rewarding to make a level that was tuned to how I like to play and challenged me at my own pace.
Hopefully, a lot more components can be added that are missing as of now. It’s missing the ability to do 2D levels, players right now can’t switch between anything else but a golf ball to hit, special rules or timed objects or events are unavailable. In other words, it’s a very bare-bones flat level creator, but it is a cool start and a fun added feature that is free.
I think that there is a lot of potentials to having really cool and In creative levels that the developers never could’ve imagined just like Little Big Planet, Dreams, or N++. More updates to it probably won’t come anytime soon because this dropped so recently, but enjoy it for what it is. This free and straightforward Level Creator only adds to the already excellent experience of What The Golf.
