What Was That Giant Creature Featured in THE MANDALORIAN Season 3 Episode 2

The second episode of The Mandalorian Season 3 was quite an exciting adventure! Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu travel to Mandalore to bathe in the Living Waters in the mines of Mandalore to be forgiven of his transgressions. I’ve got to say it was so awesome seeing the mines of Mandalore as it felt like the mines of Moria from The Lord of the Rings.

If you haven’t watched the episode yet, turn back now if you don’t want anything spoiled for you.

Din Djarin does make it to the Living Waters at the end after facing off with a few dangerous creatures. Mando definitely found himself in some sticky situations, and one of them saw him being trapped in a cage! So, Grogu had to escape and get help from Bo-Katan (Katee Sackhoff).

As Mando is walking into the water making his Mandalorian oath, all of a sudden he steps off into the abyss and sinks to the bottom of the water. So, Bo-Katan is once again off to the rescue and dives in to save him. This is where things take a very interesting turn.

As she is ascending with Mando, she sees something she didn’t expect, a giant mythological creature known as a Mythosaur.

The mythosaur are dragon-like creatures that were said to be tamed and ridden by Mandalore the Great and ancient Mandalorians. They are a symbol of strength and power for the Mandalorian people, but they were believed to have gone extinct long before the Mandalorian cataclysm. According to legend, Mandalore the Great tamed a mythosaur, which had a lair in the mines of Mandalore, which is where Mandalorians mined their precious beskar. The skull of the mythosaur is a symbol that Mandalorian warriors like Boba Fett displayed on their armor.

It was pretty awesome to see that a mythosaur has survived and I have no doubt that it will play a part in the story as it continues. Will we see the Mando or Bo-Katan tame and ride the giant beast!?

The mythosaur was previously mentioned by The Armorer in The Book of Boba Fett when she told Din Djarin that a mythosaur rising would herald a “new age of Mandalore.” Well, it seems that time has finally come.
