WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS Sequel and Spin-off Series in Development
If you haven’t seen Jemaine Clement’s vampire mockumentary What We Do in the Shadows yet, you need to watch it now. That movie is absolutely hilarious! If you have seen it, then you’ll be happy to know that a sequel in in development! It was confirmed by Clement during an interview with Stuff.co.nz.
The film is only in the planning stages right now, but it will center on the character Anton, who is the werewolf pack leader from the first movie. He was played by Rhys Darbys. Here’s a clip from the film to give you an idea of what the character is like:
In another interview with The AV Club, Clement also reveals that he has pitched a show in New Zeland with his What We Do in the Shadows co-director/co-writer/co-star Taika Waititi. That show will center on the two cops played by Karen O’Leary and Mike Minogue, who were also in the original movie. It would be awesome if it actually got picked up, but Clement doesn’t think it will. The police officers were both great characters though, and it would be fun to see a series that centers around them.
What We Do in the Shadows was one of my favorite comedies of the year. It follows a group of vampire housemates trying to cope with the complexities of modern life and show a newly turned vampire hipster some of the benefits of being undead. This leads to a lot of hilarious drama.
