At a Recent Screening for A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD Tom Hanks Found Out He's Related to Fred Rogers

Could America’s sweetheart, Tom Hanks, portraying the beloved children’s TV show host Mister Rogers be any more endearing? It turns out, it can. In a recent interview on the red carpet while at a screening of A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood, Hanks and his wife, actress Rita Wilson, were interviewed by Access Hollywood. The news outlet said they wanted to break some news to the star, and revealed a pedigree that was put together by Ancestry.com that revealed Hanks is actually related to Fred Rogers!

Wilson exclaimed, “No, impossible! You’re pulling our leg!” Then the interviewer produced the paperwork that linked the men seven generations back, making them sixth cousins. Hanks responded less incredulously, saying, “It all just comes together, you see.”

It was a really special moment that just solidifies the link between the two special men. I can’t wait to see this movie. It tugs at my heart just to watch the trailers. I know I will cry throughout this film, but I can’t wait to see the story unfold.

A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood will be in theaters just in time for Thanksgiving, November 22nd. Check out the video and the pedigree below, and enjoy!

Access Hollywood got to exclusively reveal to Tom Hanks at the premiere of the Fred Rogers biopic "A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood" that the Oscar-winning star is, in fact, related to Mister Rogers! Ancestry.com provided a family tree proving that Tom is a sixth cousin to Fred.
