Whoopi Goldberg Gives Update on SISTER ACT 3 and Names Her Dream Cast for the Project
Whoopi Goldberg is known for her roles in the movies The Color Purple and Ghost, as well as TV series like Star Trek: The Next Generation and her daytime talk show The View, but one of her most well-known roles was that of a nightclub singer named Deloris who hides from the mob in disguise as a nun in Sister Act and Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit. We’ve been hearing the buzz about a third movie in the franchise for years, but now it’s finally happening, and Goldberg gave an update on the project.
In a recent interview on Comedy Central’s Hell of A Week with host Charlamagne Tha God, Goldberg was first asked if it was happening. She responded:
“Yes. It is happening. You know, it takes everything a very long time, but we are getting it. We should get the script by the end of this month, and hopefully we will get it together and get it done sooner rather than later.”
She was then asked if the project will include Kiki Palmer, who has been linked to the sequel, and Goldberg replied:
“Well I’m going to ask for Kiki to come in. You know, I want everybody to come in. I want Lizzo to come in. Everybody, you know. I want the girl with the chest. You know, what’s her name…”
Charlamagne The God quipped that that describes a lot of girls, but guessed, “Nicki Minaj?”, and Goldberg confirmed:
“Nicki! I want Nicki to come. I want everybody. I want as many people who want to have some fun, because I really desperately need to have some fun.”
I love the first two movies, and I would absolutely love to see a third movie with Palmer, Lizzo, and Minaj! There are so many incredible women singers out there that could make this movie so much fun. I can’t want to see it happen. We will keep you posted as it develops.
