Whoopi Goldberg Is Working on Getting the Gang Back Together for SISTER ACT 3
I loved the Sister Act movies when I was a kid. Whoopi Goldberg is so funny in the films, which came out in 1992 and 1993, and they are just feel-good movies filled with laughs and action and singing. What’s not to love? It seems with how beloved those movies are, we would have seen at least one more, but in a recent interview with James Corden, Goldberg explained why we didn’t.
In the interview promoting her upcoming CBS series The Stand, based on the Stephen King novel, Corden told Goldberg that he recently rewatched Sister Act with his son, and they enjoyed it so much that it got him wondering why we never saw a Sister Act 3. She responded, saying:
“For a long time, they kept saying no one wanted to see it. And then quite recently, it turns out, that that may not be true. People may want to see it. So we’re working diligently to try to figure out how to get the gang together and come back.”
Corden responded gleefully, and Goldberg added:
“It’s a really fun movie and it feels good. And you know, nobody’s mad. It’s just, listen—bad singing, great singing, okay singing and then nuns. What’s better than that?”
Indeed. It would be so much fun to get Goldberg and the gang back together, namely Kathy Najimy, Maggie Smith, and Wendy Makkena, who starred in the first two films. Check out the interview below. The whole thing is fun, but the Sister Act conversation starts right about the 11:17 mark. Would you be excited to see a Sister Act 3?
