The Hurricane Heist takes natural disaster and heist film to an absurd new level! The film basically follows a group of thieves who attempt a huge U.S. Treasury heist during a Catagory 5 hurricane. The movie looks absolutely ridiculous, but it also looks like a lot of stupid fun. Mostly stupid, though.
The movie was directed by Rob Cohen. That's the same guy brought us films such as Stealth, xXx, and Fast and the Furious. The cast for the film includes Maggie Grace as a Treasury Agent and Toby Kebbell as a meteorologist who... are you ready for this... is terrified of hurricanes. Yeah, this is gonna be winner! I love that people actually thought this was a great idea. Here's the synopsis:
Under the threat of a hurricane, opportunistic criminals infiltrate a US Mint facility to steal $600 million for the ultimate heist. When the hurricane blows up into a lethal Category 5 storm and their well-made plans go awry, they find themselves needing a vault code known only by one Treasury Agent (Maggie Grace), a need that turns murderous. But the agent has picked up an unlikely ally, a meteorologist (Toby Kebbell) terrified of hurricanes but determined to save his estranged brother kidnapped by the thieves. He uses his knowledge of the storm as a weapon to win in this non-stop action thriller ride charged with adrenaline throughout.
The Hurricane Heist will be released in theater on June 15th.
