Why ANT-MAN is the Unsung Hero of AVENGERS: ENDGAME

Hello friends, in this time of insecurity and confusion we have had a fair amount of time to return to the properties that put us at ease with the current hand that we have been dealt. At my house we have done some deep dives into the Disney+ depths and we have not been disappointed. No matter what weird things we find in the Disney vault, my son and I always find ourselves knee-deep into either a Star Wars or Marvel marathon.

Yesterday we watched Captain America: The First Avenger which started the big debate, who is the most powerful Avenger? That is an impossible argument to win, but then my son said something that was so outrageous that I almost passed out. When I said that Ant-Man, in his suit (this is a very necessary piece of the argument), is just as powerful as the rest of the team, he tells me that Scott Lang was essentially the comic relief. It blew my mind! It made me think there could be others out there that think that Ant-Man was just a background character in the whole “saving humanity” scheme. Lets put this in perspective.

1) Scott Lang, being stuck in the Quantum Realm at the time of the snap, was living proof that time travel is not only possible but achievable. With that knowledge, he was able to pull the crew out of the five-year rut the team had been in. Everyone except Hulk who seemed to be hitting his stride.

2) Bringing the van to the Avengers HQ that contained the tunnel to the Quantum Realm. Giving the team access to the pathway through time.

3) Scott’s enthusiasm was able to convince Tony Stark to return to his time travel project that eventually led Stark to the proper equation which made reaching an exact point in time possible.

4) Lang was able to provide the Pym Particles that fueled all of our heroes trips through time.

Added Bonus: He was able to save Hulk, Rocket and War Machine, while bringing an exclamation point to the awe inspiring, goose bump inducing return of all the heroes that were victims of the snap.

Look, I know that he was not the inventor of the tunnel or the Pym Particles. I also understand the he is not the Dues Ex Machina of the film, that was Captain Marvel. However, he did stumble into being the catalyst needed to save the universe from Thanos.

I certainly hope this helps to bring to light Scott Lang/Ant-Man’s role in the Avengers and how he deserves not only another movie, but a little more respect in the MCU community. Like always, let me know what you think.
