Why Isn't Jane Foster in THOR: RAGNAROK? Kevin Feige Explains

I loved that Natalie Portman was cast as Jane Foster in the Thor movies. I thought she was a great fit for the character. I was hoping that maybe she'd be back in Thor: Ragnarok, but that's not going to happen. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige explained why they decided not to use her in the film. When talking to EW he said:

“We wanted Thor to encounter somebody that was near his equal and that his relationship with Jane may have evolved in unexpected ways in between The Dark World and Ragnarok and we wanted to pit him against a character who was much more his equal and in many ways his superior. Valkyrie is trying to not embrace any sort of Asgardian heritage that she has. Thor thinks maybe that will create a bond between them and, on the contrary, she wants to forget it all entirely.”

Chris Hemsworth added:

“(Thor)’s certainly enjoying being a drifter, being a solo cowboy out there.”

It doesn't sound like Thor and Jane will be seeing each other again anytime soon... if ever. Marvel just might let that whole relationship fade away into obscurity, which would kinda be a shame. I was hoping that one day we might see Jane Foster take on the mantle of Thor in the MCU just like she has in the comics. I guess that's still a possibility somewhere down the line, I just don't think we'll ever see Portman back in the role again.

Would you want to see Foster reunite with Thor in the MCU or do you even care? Thor: Ragnarok will be released in theaters on November 3, 2017.
