Why You Should Be Playing The DREAMS Trial Right Now
Dreams is one of those rare things that has so much potential, so much power and so much depth, it is hard to comprehend what it can be right now. We could easily put together a list of new and interesting pieces of art, film, games and other experiences created every week. This game has so much to offer, and now, there is a free trial on the Playstation Store. We recently got a free copy of Dreams from Playstation directly and we could not be any more grateful. It is literally like having an endless supply of games, music and small films all in one sweet package.
There are two modes to Dreams: Dream Surf and Dream Shaping. Let’s talk about Dream Surfing. When first hopping into the universe of Dream Surfing, players see a couple of lists of cool games, interesting movies and possible winners of competitions from previous weeks. It looks cool and is fun, but there is SO MUCH MORE! Just like YouTube or Netflix, there are always recommended Dreams to play through after finishing up one. There are playlists and the Search Bar to find whatever you want to find. There is also a random Dreams button that will send you through a never ending journey of differing experiences. Between platforming games, cool pieces of music and wonderfully crafted sculptures, it is baffling how much there is in this game.
But let’s say you’re tired of playing other peoples creations, some of them might be really good, and others not so much. What if you’ve always had an idea for a game, or song or film? You can make it (or at least some form of it) in Dreams. The Dream Shaping space at first seems very simple; make geometry, put it places and run around. But players can sculpt, program, script, write and create anything from scratch. The Dream Shaping then becomes almost intimidating because of the sheer amount of things that players can do. I literally got lost in the creating toolbars because there were so many options, and I was just sculpting one guy! But never fear, Media Molecule has wonderful tutorials for all their tools inside of Dreams that teach you step by step how to use all that Dreams has to offer.
Why play Dreams? WHY NOT? People have made so many fun things to play and the Dream Shaping mode is so expansive that it is hard to not play this game. Hop onto the Playstation Store and download the trial, let us know what you’ve found! We’ll be posting monthly about our favorite Dreams we’ve found! Here is it on the Playstation Store in this link. If you are unable to get to the free trial from here, try directly through your Playstation and the PS Store there.
