Wil Wheaton is Suing Geek & Sundry Over a Breach in Contract Regarding TITANSGRAVE: THE ASHES OF VALKANA
Wil Wheaton is well known in the world of geek culture for a number of roles including Wesley Crusher on Star Trek: The Next Generation and as a character of himself in The Big Bang Theory. Well, one of his lesser known roles was host for the Geek & Sundry series Titansgrave: The Ashes of Valkana. Well, it turns out that G&S may not be holding up their end of the bargain regarding payment for Titansgrave. Wheaton is suing G&S who are currently owned by Legendary for breach of contract.
Back in 2015, Legendary hired Wheaton to create, write, executive produce, and even host Titansgrave and in return he would be paid “$50,000 and 50 percent of the net profit from the series.” Legendary also held exclusive distribution and promotion rights for the show, but according to THR, they were to “’consult meaningfully’ with Wheaton before doing so.” The complaint filed against Legendary states that this was defied when license agreements were made between Legendary and Hulu, Pluto TV, and Sinclair Broadcasting without even informing Wheaton of this. Therefore, Wheaton believes that Legendary has made a lot of money from these deals and have neglected to give him his fair share, but according to him, Legendary will not let him audit their books. Wheaton is expecting to get a minimum of $100,000 for damages and wants a court ordered full accounting to be conducted.
If these allegations are true, it’s a shame and Wheaton does deserve what he was promised in his contract. Part of me hopes that after this matter is closed, we can finally get a second season of Titansgrave. It was such an amazing show and helped me fall in love with the AGE system.
