Wild and Crazy Trailer for Takashi Miike's Noir-Tinged Yakuza Action Film FIRST LOVE

Takashi Miike (Audition, Ichi The Killer, Blade of The Immortal) has directed a new film called First Love, and it looks like one hell of a wild and crazy ride! We’ve got a trailer to share with you today for the noir-tinged Yakuza action film, and I think you’re gonna like what you see.

It’s explained that this is the filmmaker at “his most fun and anarchic.” It blends “genres in the story of a young boxer and a call girl, who fall passionately in love while getting innocently caught up in a drug-smuggling scheme over the course of one night in Tokyo.”

The story is set over one night in Tokyo, and it centers on Leo, “a young boxer down on his luck as he meets his 'first love' Monica, a call-girl and an addict but still an innocent. Little does Leo know, Monica is unwittingly caught up in a drug-smuggling scheme, and the two are pursued through the night by a corrupt cop, a yakuza, his nemesis, and a female assassin sent by the Chinese Triads. All their fates interwine in spectacular Miike style, at his most anarchic and fun.”

This is a film that I know I’m going to have a blast watching! I loved what this trailer had to offer, and I’m excited to watch the full film!

First Love will be released in select US theaters on September 27th.
