Wild Full Trailer for George MIller's THREE THOUSAND YEARS OF LONGING
Mad Max: Fury Road director George Miller is back with an epic-looking new film he’s directed titled Three Thousand Years of Longing. It’s so great to see Miller has made another movie, and it looks like it’s going to be a very wild and adventurous movie-going experience. I’m totally digging what I’m seeing! It looks like Miller had a lot of fun with this movie and I’m totally in for the ride!
The movie stars Idris Elba and Tilda Swinton, and it’s an epic fantasy romance film that revolves around a genie. The film is based on the short story "The Djinn in the Nightingale's Eye" by A.S. Byatt, and this is the synopsis:
Dr Alithea Binnie (Tilda Swinton) is an academic – content with life and a creature of reason. While in Istanbul attending a conference, she happens to encounter a Djinn (Idris Elba) who offers her three wishes in exchange for his freedom.
This presents two problems. First, she doubts that he is real and second, because she is a scholar of story and mythology, she knows all the cautionary tales of wishes gone wrong. The Djinn pleads his case by telling her fantastical stories of his past. Eventually she is beguiled and makes a wish that surprises them both.
While a lot of us are fans of Miller’s Mad Max films, Miller has called this his anti-Mad Max movie explaining, “One thing I can tell you; it’s not [another Fury Road]. It’s a movie that is very strongly visual, but it’s almost the opposite of Fury Road. It’s almost all interior and there’s a lot of conversation in it. There are action scenes, but they are by the by and I guess you could say it’s the anti-Mad Max.”
Three Thousand Years of Longing will be released in theaters on August 31, 2022.
