Wildly Intense Trailer for Netflix's Indonesian Zombie Film THE ELIXIR

Netflix just unleashed the official trailer for The Elixir, an Indonesian zombie horror thriller that looks absolutely insane. The film mixes gnarly undead chaos with dark comedy and a splash of cultural flavor.

Directed by Kimo Stamboel, one half of the filmmaking duo The Mo Brothers, The Elixir dives into the story of a dysfunctional family whose obsession with herbal medicine leads to a full-blown zombie outbreak. T

he movie follows Kenes, played by Mikha Tambayong, who visits her father Sadimin (Donny Damara), the head of a renowned herbal medicine business. Things spiral out of control when Sadimin drinks a new potion promising eternal youth and instead transforms into a flesh-hungry monster.

Tensions between Kenes and her best friend Karina (Eva Celia), who plans to marry Sadimin, boil over just as the horrific transformation begins. Panic erupts, chaos spreads through the village, and soon the undead are tearing through anyone in their way.

With their family feud literally turning into a fight for survival, everyone must put aside their egos and emotions if they want to make it out alive.

Set in a remote village near Yogyakarta, The Elixir fuses Indonesian culture with zombie horror. The story draws from traditional herbal medicine practices known as jamu, while weaving in local mythological undertones and rural family drama. It’s a wild mix of cultural authenticity and bloody mayhem.

Netflix describes The Elixir as “a world of raw terror and unrelenting suspense.” The film stars a powerhouse Indonesian cast including Dimas Anggara, Marthino Lio, Kiki Narendra, Ardit Erwandha, Claresta Taufan, and Varen Arianda Calief.

This looks like one hell of a ride. From family drama to zombie carnage, The Elixir promises to deliver pure horror entertainment with a uniquely Indonesian edge.

Watch the madness unfold when The Elixir hits Netflix on October 23, 2025.
