Will Arnett on How TWISTED METAL's Sweet Tooth Compares to Pennywise the Clown and Killer Klowns From Outer Space
Will Arnett provides the voice of the fan-favorite video game character Sweet Tooth in the upcoming series adaptation of Twisted Metal. The physical version of the character is played by Joe Seanoa, a.k.a Samoa Joe, and the character looks so great in the show!
Sweet Tooth is described as “a hilarious and terrifying hulk of a man, who is as emotional as he is cunning. A lover of chaos, this majestic rage-filled killer dons an ever-smiling clown mask and uses ‘Lost Vegas’ as his own personal kill-ground, all while he drives his infamous doomsday ice cream truck.”
The character is a very different and unique killer clown character, and in a recent interview with /Film, Arnett was asked how Sweet Tooth “would stand against some of the other killer clowns from fiction, like Pennywise or the Killer Clowns from Outer Space?” Arnett responded, saying:
“I don't know. Pennywise seems really scary in a way that haunts your dreams. Sweet Tooth is pretty above board. He's just going to kill you. You know what I mean? He's funnier. He's funnier than those other clowns. He's legitimate… He is much closer to what a clown should be. Yeah, and physically, he's bigger. He's got that. He's very intimidating physically.”
Let’s face it, though, all clowns are freakin’ creepy. I used to live next door to a clown, and I’m not joking, this woman was also dressed up as a clown walking around. Imagine waking up in the morning and walking outside and having a clown outside of your door practicing being a clown. Those were some weird times.
Anyway, Sweet Tooth is probably one of the most savage clowns that has been created, but all clowns have their crazy special powers and it’s hard to say who would win in a fight because they have so many different things to pull out of their bags of tricks!
The series will center on a “motor-mouthed outsider John Doe (Mackie) who is offered a chance at a better life, but only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland. With the help of a trigger-happy car thief, he’ll face savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction and other dangers of the open road, including a deranged clown named who drives an all too familiar ice cream truck, Sweet Tooth.”
The cast also includes Anthony Mackie, Thomas Haden Church, Neve Campbell, Mike Mitchell (The Tomorrow War, Love), Tahj Vaughans (P-Valley), Lou Beatty Jr. (A Million Little Things, NCIS), and Richard Cabral (Mayans M.C., American Crime).
Cobra Kai writer Michael Jonathan Smith is developing the series, which is based on an original take by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Deadpool, Zombieland). It’s said to be a high-octane action-comedy. Will Arnett is also a producer.
The series is set to be released on Peacock on July 27th.
