Will Chris Evans Return to Play Captain America in Future Marvel Projects? The Russo Bros. Have an Answer
With the way that Avengers: Endgame played out and how Joe and Anthony Russo handled Captain America’s story arc, they left it open for a way for Chris Evans to return and play Steve Rogers again.
I’ve been hoping that he would, that we would get to see the adventures of Captain America and Peggy Carter in a film or series, but it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen. According to the filmmakers, Evans has “emotionally moved on” and he’s not expected to return.
When asked if Evans would play the role again, Joe told the Happy Sad Confused podcast:
“No, I think Chris — Chris is a very emotional person. I think, maybe it’s evident if you follow him on Twitter — because he does put his heart into what he says — but I feel like he has to close the door on things and emotionally move onto the next thing.”
Anthony added that “There are no plans”, and Joe went on to say, “I think for now he’s emotionally moved on, yes.”
See, it’s when they use words like “for now” that brings back that bit of hope within me. Joe could’ve just said, “he’s done, he’s not coming back, he’s emotionally moved on.” But then when he adds the “for now” aspect, it keeps the door open for Evans to return.
While I do hope to see Evans come back, I honestly don’t think that he will. I think Marvel is just going to leave everything that might have happened with the character up to the imagination of the fans. Who knows though, maybe Marvel will explore Cap’s journey more in-depth in the comics.
What do you think? After reading what the Russos had to say, do you think Evans will be back in the role of Steve Rogers?
