Will Ferrell and Julia Louis-Dreyfus Reevaluate Their Lives After an Avalanche in Trailer for DOWNHILL
The first trailer has been released for a comedy/drama titled Downhill starring Will Ferrell and Julia Louis-Dreyfus. The story follows a couple that finds themselves in crisis and reevaluating their lives after an avalanche scare while on vacation.
The movie is an American remake of Ruben Östlund’s Swedish comedy-drama Force Majeure, which I’ve never seen. This looks like a solid film though which balances funny humor and relationship drama. You see, when the controlled avalanche happens it comes uncomfortably close to where Ferrell and Louis-Dreyfus were sitting with their kids. While Louis-Dreyfus huddles with her kids, Ferrell instinctively grabs his cell phone and makes a run for it. As you can imagine, this causes a rift in the marriage.
Here’s the brief synopsis that was released for the film:
After barely escaping an avalanche during a ski vacation in the Alps, a couple is forced to reevaluate their lives and how they feel about each other.
I imagine the rest of the film will deliver an uncomfortable look as the relationship of these characters disintegrates. That sounds like a fun comedy!
Downhill was directed by the writer of The Descendants, Nat Faxon and Jim Rash, and it also stars Zach Woods and Miranda Otto. The film opens in theaters on February 14, 2020.
