Will Liev Schreiber Reprise His Role as Sabertooth in WOLVERINE 3?
One of the best things that came out of X-Men Origins: Wolverine was Liev Schriber as Victor Creed a.k.a. Sabertooth. I thought he was great in the role, and it would be a shame for him to never play Sabertooth again. The actor recently confirmed to MTV News on the red carpet of the Oscars that he has had talks about reprising his role in James Mangold's Wolverine 3. When Schreiber was asked about it, he said:
"We’ve talked about it. I don’t know. I mean, he’s mentioned it to me. Old Man Logan story, that’s appealing. That’s something I can do. 'Old' being the operative word. Old Man Sabertooth."
It would be great if he did come aback as Sabertooth, especially since this will be Hugh Jackman's last time playing Wolverine. The movie will be based on Mark Millar and Steve McNiven‘s Old Man Logan comic story arc, and the movie will be rated R.
Old Man Logan is set in a dystopian future that is ruled by supervillains. Wolverine has retired with his family, but this movie sees him come out of retirement to help an old friend deliver a package. That friend is Hawkeye in the comics, but I've heard rumors that Patrick Stewart's Charles Xavier will be a substitute for the character. One of the reasons why I love this story so much is that it has a western-style vibe to it. If there's a place to include Sabertooth in the story I really hope that they get Schreiber to come back.
Wolverine 3 arrives in theaters on March 3rd, 2017.
