Will Poulter Explains That His MCU Character Adam Warlock Isn't as Perfect as Fans of the Comics May Expect
We are about to see actor Will Poulter bring the comic book role of Adam Warlock to life in the highly anticipated final chapter of the Guardians of the Galaxy saga, set to hit theaters next year. With characters like Warlock, who people know from the comics, it’s a tricky dance in bringing that character to life.
In the comics, Adam Warlock is created by scientists on earth as an artificial, perfect human. Last week at Comic-Con, Poulter talked to ScreenRant about his Warlock on the red carpet, and the direction he and Gunn decided to take him, stating:
“The first thing to confront is that I am very, very far from perfect. I think one of the cool things about this character is that James certainly allowed me to kind of explore Adam's imperfections as well, while he orientates himself. He's in his infancy at this point of the story, so he's really trying to [orient] himself in this world as effectively a newborn.”
Director James Gunn previously talked about the character we will see in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, stating the film's version is "our take on Adam." Gunn has a pretty great track record for making these characters complex, yet relatable, and I can’t wait to see how they bring him to life. Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3 is set to hit theaters on May 5, 2023.
