Will Poulter Leads the Emotional Drug Rehab Drama UNION COUNTY in New Trailer
Oscilloscope Labs has released the first trailer for Union County, an acclaimed indie drama that takes an honest look at addiction, recovery, and the opioid crisis in rural Ohio.
The film made its debut earlier this year at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival, where it earned widespread praise, with much of the attention focused on Will Poulter and what many have called one of the strongest performances of his career.
The trailer offers an emotional glimpse at a story centered on hope in the middle of incredibly difficult circumstances. Rather than focusing on sensationalized drama, Union County follows people trying to rebuild their lives through a county-mandated drug court rehabilitation program.
Poulter stars as Cody Parsons, a man assigned to the program as he begins the difficult road toward sobriety. Alongside him is Noah Centineo, who plays Cody's brother, Jack Parsons.
Together, the brothers navigate recovery while confronting the challenges of addiction in a community deeply affected by the opioid epidemic.
One of the aspects that helps Union County stand apart is its commitment to authenticity. The film was shot inside a real drug court in Ohio, and many members of the supporting cast aren't professional actors.
Instead, they're people who were actively involved in the rehabilitation program, bringing an extra layer of realism to the story. Among them is Annette Deao, who also plays the brothers' dedicated counselor.

Joining Poulter and Centineo in the cast are Elise Kibler, Emily Meade, and Annette Deao. Union County marks Meeks' feature directorial debut after previously directing several short films. He also wrote the screenplay, bringing a deeply personal and grounded perspective to a subject that continues to affect communities across the country.
This isn't a conventional addiction drama. It's focused on the people searching for a second chance and the support systems that can make recovery possible.
Combined with its real-world setting and performances from both seasoned actors and members of the actual drug court community, Union County looks like it's aiming to tell that story with honesty and compassion.
After earning rave reviews at Sundance, audiences will finally get a chance to see what all the praise is about when Union County opens in select theaters on August 14, 2026.
