Will STAR WARS: EPISODE IX Feature an Ultra Powerful Luke Skywalker?

A lot of Star Wars fans can’t wait to see what J.J. Abrams delivers in Star Wars: Episode IX. One of the most excited aspects for fans about the film is that Mark Hamill will return as Luke Skywalker. We just don’t know exactly what to expect from him, but most fans assume that he will return as a Force ghost. After all, he did end up fading away into another plain of existence in The Last Jedi.

Some very vocal fans were disappointed with how Luke Skywalker was portrayed in The Last Jedi including Hamill. Fans were hoping to see a more powerful Jedi than what we saw. According to a new rumor, his epic power may end up being displayed in Episode IX.

Express claims to have information on a scene from the film that will wow the fans, But, even though this is just a rumor, before we go on:

The latest information ties in with last year's official canon book, Journey to Star Wars: The Last Jedi: The Legends of Luke Skywalker by Ken Liu.

One of the short stories reveals that Luke Skywalker was able to bring down entire Star Destroyers using only the Force. Remember the Star Destroyer wreckage scattered across the Jakku desert in The Force Awakens? Luke may have actually been the one responsible for bringing the Empire’s fleet out of the sky. This story is set soon after the events of The Return of the Jedi as the Imperial Forces were being destroyed across the galaxy.

In the story, an imperial gunner on a Star Destroyer recalls the terrifying moment he sees a hologram of Luke just before the ship crashes out of the sky. In the book, he says:

“The bridge went dark. The overhead lights, the view screens, the blinking lights on the banks of consoles. Even the emergency lighting strips on the floor. All around us was the darkness of space…I saw that the bridge windows were rapidly filling with expanding columns of energy… A jolt, as if the entire Star Destroyer had been picked up by a giant hand and slammed against the ground. The ship slowed, drifted, stopped and then the stark lifeless surface of Jakku swung into view, filling the windows, and we fell, we fell.

Now, here’s what the report says about what we will possibly see in Episode IX:

"One description specifically describes multiple Star Destroyers in the sky with X-wings getting shot down by TIE-fighters over a sandy planet. A cloaked figure appears in a rear shot in a black cloak with his arm reaching out.

"A mechanical hand with its fingers spread as an Imperial Class 2 Star Destroyer begins to sink, As it hits the ground a shock wave is seen with a wave of sand concluding the sequence."

This is said to be Luke. There were previous reports of Hamill shaving his beard before shooting Episode IX, so perhaps he needed to be clean-shaven to shoot a flashback scene in the film with a younger version of Luke that shows us this event.

J.J. Abrams introduced flashbacks to the franchise with The Force Awakens, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see more flashback as he brings the Skywalker saga to a close.

Again, this is just a rumor, but is it a rumor that you’d like to see be true? I wouldn’t mind seeing an epically powerful Luke using The Force to take down a Star Destroyer!
