Will the New SCREAM Filmmakers Return for Another Sequel? Here's What They Say
I was completely happy with what directors Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, a.k.a. Radio Silence, did with the new Scream film. They actually managed to capture the magic and spirit of the late Wes Craven, and I think he would have enjoyed the film they made.
The big question is, will the filmmakers return to direct a sequel? Of course, they would! And the writers of this film, James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick, already have some plans in mind. Gillett recently confirmed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly:
"We know that Guy and Jamie have a really great idea for where this saga goes, and I can say that we had such an amazing time making this one. From start to finish, it was just like a dream come true, and if they'd have us back, we'd do it in a heartbeat."
While there are no solid plans in place for another Scream sequel, I assume that it will happen. It’s just a matter of when and if this will be the same creative team to make it. They did such a great job with this one, though, that it would be stupid not to bring them back!
At the same time, I’m not sure we really need another Scream film, unless the plan is to kill off a Legacy character with each new movie. Regardless of what happens, it’s safe to say that Sidney Prescott’s kids are eventually going to find themselves fighting for their lives at some point.
