Willem Dafoe is Up For Playing Green Goblin Again if Marvel Wanted Him To
Willem Dafoe has been awesome in the role of Green Goblin over the years in the Spider-Man films and his performance in Spider-Man: No Way Home was incredible! It was seriously the perfect version of Green Goblin and if that was the last time that we see this version of Dafoe’s character, it was a great way to bring his character to a close.
But! If Marvel does decide they want to bring Dafoe back as Green Goblin, it’s good to know that the actor is up for returning to reprise the role. During a recent interview with Inverse, Dafoe was asked about the possibility of returning, and he said:
"If everything was right, sure. I mean, that's a great role. I liked the fact that it's a double role both times. Twenty years ago, and fairly recently, both times [were] very different experiences, but I had a good time on both."
When previously talking about reprising his role in No Way Home, Dafoe said that there was one condition he imposed before accepting the role. That condition was that he wanted in on all the action:
"Doing this physical stuff was important to me. In fact, one of the first things I said to Jon [Watts] and Amy [Pascal], basically when they pitched it to me before there was even a script, was, "Listen, I don't want to just pop in there as a cameo or just fill in in close-ups. I want to do the action because it's fun for me. ' Also, it's really impossible to add any integrity or any fun to the character if you don't participate in these things. Because all of that action stuff informs your relationships with the characters and the story. It makes you earn your right to play the character, in a funny way.”
It would seriously be cool to see Dafoe back as Green Goblin one day. Anything is possible! But, if it does happen, it won’t be for a long while. Would you want to see Dafoe back as Green Goblin!?
