Willem Dafoe Reveals Character Details From His Upcoming Role in BEETLEJUICE 2
Four-time Oscar-nominated actor Willem Dafoe is always working on a project or two as one of Hollywood’s busiest actors, and right now, he’s got several films in post-production, including the long-awaited Tim Burton-directed sequel, Beetlejuice 2. Dafoe joins new cast members Jenna Ortega, Monica Bellucci, and Justin Theroux, as well as returning cast members Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Catherine O’Hara.
We hadn’t heard any information on Dafoe’s new character, but the actor recently sat down with Variety, and he revealed some new details about making the movie, and his role:
“I haven’t seen any footage yet, but it was fun to do. I play a police officer in the afterlife, so I’m a dead person. And in life I was a B-movie action star, but I had an accident and that’s what sent me to the other side. But because of my skills, I became a detective character in the afterlife. So that’s my job. But it’s colored by the fact of who I was [when I was alive]: a B movie action star.”
I love Dafoe in roles like this. He knows how to take a wild character all the way to its limits, just like he did with Green Goblin in Spider-Man. Beetlejuice 2 is set to be released on September 6, 2024.
