William Shatner Is Excited About a STAR TREK Pitch That Involves Resurrecting Captain Kirk

It seems like William Shatner might actually be considering returning to the role of Captain Kirk in a future Star Trek project. During a recent appearance at Fan Expo Vancouver, the legendary Star Trek actor shared that a new pitch for Kirk’s return has caught his attention, and he likes it so much he’s willing to hear it out.

He explained: "I have been asked to come back as Kirk so many times. If Kirk is going to come back, it has to mean something. It has to be the show. But I was so impressed by this writer, so I said let's talk after I'm done in Vancouver. So I'm awaiting a pitch to make the show, it should come on Monday or Tuesday."

Shatner, who first portrayed Kirk in Star Trek: The Original Series (1966-1969) and reprised the role across seven films, last played the iconic captain in Star Trek Generations (1994), where Kirk met his end.

However, as revealed in Star Trek: Picard, Starfleet eventually recovered his body, leaving the door open for a possible return.

A few days after his Fan Expo remarks, Shatner took to X to tease the situation further, writing, "I’ve been approached to resurrect Kirk. It’s all still up in the air (or is it buried under some rocks?) Whichever the case I’m waiting to hear what the folks at Paramount have to say."

It’s unclear whether Paramount will actually move forward with Kirk’s resurrection, but Shatner’s openness to the idea and enthusiasm for this particular writer’s approach makes the things very interesting.

Will the pitch be enough to bring Kirk back one more time? We’ll just have to wait and see.
