Wilson Unveils Its Airless Basketball Prototype and It's Pretty Cool!
Wilson is taking some big and interesting steps in evolving the basketball. The sports manufacturer has recently unveiled its latest invention, and it's a game-changer! It’s a prototype for a 3D Airless Basketball prototype!
It’s unlike any other basketball you've ever seen or played with. This ball is created to match the specifications of the official NBA balls, but with no air, no leather, and filled with holes.
Per Wilson Team Sports General Manager, Kevin Murphy, “We are so proud to unveil Wilson’s 3D Airless Prototype basketball as a physical manifestation of our continued commitment to sports innovation. This is just one example of how our team approaches the game and why we are the number one basketball company in the world today.”
This is fascinating and I’m looking forward to playing with it one day! Will it ever replace the traditional ball? Maybe? We’ll see!
The ball was recently used by Houston Rockets small forward Kenyon Martin Jr. during the first round of the AT&T Slam Dunk Contest. You can watch that below.
