WINNIE THE POOH: BLOOD AND HONEY Will Spawn a Twisted Horror Cinematic Universe with Beloved Childhood Characters
Winnie The Pooh: Blood and Honey is currently in select theaters, and curious audiences are flocking to see it. I haven’t had a chance to see it myself yet, but I’ll eventually get around to it. The movie went viral online as it takes a taking a beloved childhood property and transformed it into a brutal and bloody slasher flick.
A sequel for the movie has already been greenlit and writer and director Rhys Frake-Waterfield sees exciting potential for this franchise as he expands on the story, and he revealed that the budget for the sequel will be five times bigger than the first movie!
In an interview with Variety, the filmmaker said: “A lot of people are loving the first one. But, I know what we can really do with the second, and how we can make it even more fun and goofy.”
Frake-Waterfield also said that he’s looking to get the sequel into theaters in February 2024. On top of the sequel, their creative team is also developing an R-rated Bambi movie titled Bambi: The Reckoning, and it will turn the lovable deer Into a "vicious killing machine."
That’s not all! They are also developing a Peter Pan movie that will include a version of Tinkerbell that is “heavily obese” and“recovering from drugs”
They are looking to create a twisted and horrific cinematic universe filled with beloved characters with a desire to spill blood. The director said: “The idea is that we’re going to try and imagine they’re all in the same world, so we can have crossovers. People have been messaging saying they really want to see Bambi versus Pooh.”
He also explained: “There are many, many, many other ideas out there which aren’t tied to Disney, loads of old fairytales and urban legends, concepts that are synonymous with your childhood, and they’re the ones which I want to build up into a twisted alternative reality.”
In Winnie The Pooh: Blood and Honey Pooh and Piglet are the main villains… “going on a rampage after being abandoned by a college-bound Christopher Robin. Christopher Robin is pulled away from them, and he’s not [given] them food, it’s made Pooh and Piglet’s life quite difficult. Because they’ve had to fend for themselves so much, they’ve essentially become feral. So they’ve gone back to their animal roots. They’re no longer tame: they’re like a vicious bear and pig who want to go around and try and find prey.”
It’s going to be really interesting to see how this plays out and if this dark and disturbing slasher franchise will be a success. While some people are enjoying it, others are threatening the filmmaker with death.
