Winston Zeddemore "Figures Strongly" into the GHOSTBUSTERS Sequels
I loved Ghostbusters: Afterlife, and I’m excited to see what the sequel – being developed under the working title Firehouse – brings us. The next chapter of the story will go back to New York City, and the original, iconic headquarters of the Ghostbusters is going to be one of the main settings.
Director Jason Reitman has revealed a bit of new information about the sequel and the future of the franchise, saying that Ernie Hudson’s Winston Zeddemore is going to play a big role in the franchise from here on out. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the filmmaker said:
“The character of Winston Zeddemore and Zeddemore Industries figures strongly into the future of Ghostbusters.”
That’s great to hear! I have no idea if we’ll see any of the other original Ghostbuster characters, but it’s good to know that Winston will be a big part of the franchise’s future. It’s explained that the sequel will be the “next chapter in the Spenger family story,” with Afterlife‘s post-credits scene suggesting that Winston is taking the new crew under his wing.
The Ghostbusters: Afterlife sequel is set to be released in theaters on December 20th, 2023. Stay tuned as we learn more about the film.
As we wait for the Afterlife sequel, there’s a new comic book series from Dark Horse that will help bridge the storytelling gaps.
