With No Film Projects in Development, The Wachowski's Are Closing Down Their Production Offices
The Wachowski sibling filmmaking team that brought us The Matrix, Speed Racer, Cloud Atlas, Jupiter Ascending, and Sense 8 have hit some hard times. With no projects currently in development, they are shutting their production offices and selling off the building.
The Wachowski’s have operated out of these 21,500-square-foot-office building for over a decade and now they are asking for around $5 million, which is said to be "way below" what they invested in it.
Lana Wachowski’s wife Karin Wachowski said their “dream space” is closing because no new productions are scheduled. The last project produced by was Netflix’s Sense 8 series.
The filmmakers were developing several other projects but obviously they couldn’t get any of them off the ground. They were working on an Iraq War found footage film called Cobalt Neural 9 as well as modern-day take on Robin Hood. There was also a reboot of The Matrix in development, but they weren’t involved with that.
I think that the Wachowski's are incredibly imaginative filmmakers that tell some pretty wild stories. I don’t know what the future holds for them, but I hope we haven’t seen the last of them or their films!
