Wizards of the Coast Is Giving Schools and Libraries Great Tools for D&D and MAGIC: THE GATHERING ARENA
Wizards of the Coast has a new initiative to help educators and librarians in getting communities to engage in virtual play during this time of social distancing. They are distributing 2,000 digital kets to schools and libraries across the United States and Canada and the things included are freaking amazing. First, each kit will include a Legendary Bundle for D&D Beyond. This bundle provides access to all current Dungeons & Dragons content in addition to a 15% discount for all future D&D Beyond purchases. It’s a fantastic thing to have if you play D&D, especially if you play virtually.
The second part of each kit includes 30 codes for Magic: The Gathering Arena. Each code is valid for three Ikoria booster packs. This is a great way for getting kids involved in MTG Arena as well. It is the most complex game out there and can be turned into a computer, so I don’t think it’s the worst thing ever.
In addition, there will be tips included for teachers and librarians for how to “engage their audiences in a virtual play environment.” If you fall into the category of “over the age of 18 who are employed by or official volunteers at enrichment organizations, such as a schools, libraries, community centers, and scout troops, and represent the organization's gaming programming,” you can reach out via Wizards of the Coast’s customer service request portal.
Nathan Stewart of D&D released the following statement:
Right now, play, imagination and connection with the people you care about are more important than ever. With these resources, we want give back to communities and make it as easy as possible for as many people to roll with advantage during this difficult time.
