Wizards of the Coast Reveals New Game Studio to Be Led by BioWare Vets

Wizards of the Coast has revealed a new video game studio that they’re launching called Archetype Entertainment. Possibly the best part about this announcement is the reveal that James Ohlen and Chad Robertson, two BioWare veterans, will be leading the new studio. Ohlen will be the head of studio and he has worked as creative director and lead designer on big games like Baldur’s Gate, Dragon Age, Neverwinter Nights, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, and Star Wars: The Old Republic. That’s an impressive resume.

Meanwhile, Robertson will serve as vice president and studio general manager. His resume includes head of technology and studio director for BioWare Austin as well as head of live services for Anthem.

In addition to the announcement of these two industry vets taking the lead over at Archetype, we learned a little about their first project. According to Polygon, the first title will be a multi-platform sci-fi RPG.

[The game is] set in an all-new science fiction universe that will send players on a story-driven epic where choices they make will have real consequences on how their story unfolds.

I’m very excited to see what Archetype has in store for us.
