WOLFENSTEIN 3 Is Reportedly in Development at MachineGames After INDIANA JONES AND THE GREAT CIRCLE
After wrapping up work on Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, it looks like MachineGames is heading back to one of its most iconic franchises. According to a new report, the studio is once again taking aim at the Wolfenstein universe, with Wolfenstein 3 reportedly now in development.
The initial report comes from Windows Central, which claims the next mainline Wolfenstein game is officially in the works. Shortly after that story dropped, Kotaku backed it up with its own sources familiar with the project. While neither outlet shared specific gameplay or story details, both point to MachineGames returning to lead development.
If true, this would mark the first major Wolfenstein entry since 2019’s Wolfenstein: Youngblood. That game was a canonical spin-off set nearly two decades after the events of Wolfenstein: The New Colossus, shifting focus away from longtime series lead B.J. Blazkowicz and instead following his twin daughters as they searched for their missing father.
While the idea was ambitious, the response was far more divided than the reception for Wolfenstein: The New Order and The New Colossus.
Youngblood’s ending also left the overall timeline in an interesting spot, teasing the rise of a Fourth Reich. That dangling thread raises a big question for Wolfenstein 3. Will it continue that storyline, or will the series rewind and bring players back to an earlier chapter of Blazkowicz’s war against the Nazis? For now, that remains unclear.
The timing of this report lines up with other recent movement around the franchise. A Wolfenstein TV series was announced last year and is currently in development at Amazon Prime Video, suggesting Bethesda is once again investing in the brand across multiple platforms.
Still, Bethesda hasn’t officially confirmed Wolfenstein 3, so everything remains unofficial until a formal reveal happens.
For fans who’ve been waiting years to see where Blazkowicz’s story goes next, this is the most promising sign yet. If MachineGames really is back at the helm, there’s good reason to be excited about the future of Wolfenstein, even if we’re still waiting to hear it straight from the source.
Unfortunatley, it also means we won’t be getting a sequel to Indiana Jones and the Great Circel anytime soon, which I was hoping would be annnounced.
