Wolverine Murdered Director Bryan Singer in X-MEN: APOCALPYSE

X-Men: Apocalypse is in theaters now, and if you're anything like me, you probably missed director Bryan Singer's cameo in the film. Directors appearing in their own films is nothing new, of course, but this is the first time one has been murdered on screen by a feral Weapon X. At around the 24 minute mark of the latest Empire podcast, Singer explains:

"I have a cameo in it. You can't tell. I'm the guy with the machine gun screaming when the camera flies by me. When I look at it, I'm like, I couldn't recognize myself so I knew no one else could. But I was thrilled to get killed by Wolverine. I can now say that. It's one of the many things I can put on my resume...We went back to film the Wolverine section later because Hugh was training for the next Wolverine movie so we wanted him in a certain kind of shape. At first, Hugh was reticent to do it, but once I explained it to him, what the scene is and why it's there, he agreed to do it over the phone, which is unusual. Usually there's some negotiation involved, but he said, 'You can call my agent mate, but I'm in, I love it. I'm in, I'm in.' And I'm like, 'Wow, OK.'"

So if you haven't seen the film yet, or you're one of the people who loved it enough to go see it twice in theaters, keep an eye out for that next time you watch. The rest of us will be perfectly content waiting for the Blu-ray to catch that cameo...or, to be more accurate, for someone else to create a .gif of the shot and post it on social media.

Director Bryan Singer and writer/producer Simon Kinberg join us for an epic, spoilerific chat that delves deep into the secrets of X-Men: Apocalypse. CONTAINS SPOILERS. (Obviously.)
