WONDER WOMAN Director Only Reshot One Scene in the Entire Film

Wonder Woman has already made history this weekend as the largest opening ever for a female-directed feature. Wonder Woman debuted to a historic $223 million worldwide, including $100.5 million domestically.  Many people, including myself, credit that success to director Patty Jenkins.

These days major blockbuster movies like Wonder Woman are often subjected to extensive reshoots, Rogue One, for example, had reshot many scenes throughout the film. But amazingly enough for Wonder Woman, there was only one reshoot, and it was a very minor tweak.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Jenkins said she realized something was missing after watching the finished cut months after wrapping production. It was the scene where Princess Diana is walking with Steve Trevor toward the World War I frontlines.

“I wanted to ramp that tension as much as possible, and unfortunately, we didn’t have it. That scene was just a slightly tense scene of them walking. I was like ‘I need her to see some brutality.’ So, we added her seeing the horses being whipped. It was actually something that had been in the script originally.”
“We replaced that one scene with a reshot scene, and we didn’t change the order of a single scene. So what you saw is exactly the movie that we were always making.”

If you've seen the movie you know that it wasn't that big of a scene and the fact that she was so tuned into the fact that the scene needed to be adjusted just proves the genius in Jenkins' directorial vision.

What do you guys think, do reshoots usually make movies better or are they a red flag?
