WONDER WOMAN Director Patty Jenkins Reminds Us She Has Plans for an Amazonian Spinoff Film and WONDER WOMAN 3
Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins seems to have a clear vision for the future of the DC franchise. We already knew that Warner Bros. was developing a spinoff film based on the Amazonians. We also knew that there was a third Wonder Woman film planned.
In a recent interview with Total Film, Jenkins reminded us that these projects were happening and also revealed the order in which they would be made. She also confirmed that she is not planning on directing the Amazonian film.
“There’s an arc that I have in mind for the first movie, and then the second movie, and then the Amazon movie, and then the third movie. I’m not going to direct [the Amazon movie], hopefully. I’m going to try really hard not to. It’s not going to be easy. But Geoff Johns and I came up with the story, and we sold the pitch, and we’re going to get it going. I’ll produce it, for sure.”
Earlier this year, Jenkins explained that they won’t be making these film back-to-back. She wants a little break in between:
“I think what we don’t want to do is do it back to back. It’s been great doing these two movies back to back, but I think it’s important to give it a little rest in between. And I like doing other things in between. And Gal has other things to do. I never want to make decisions too far in advance. We have to see if we both feel like making the movie we think we want to make when the moment comes.”
So, I guess we shouldn’t expect another one of these Wonder Woman films for a while after Wonder Woman 1984 is released.
I liked Wonder Woman, and I hope this sequel ends up being at least as good. There’s some great potential for this franchise and it’ll be interesting to see where it takes this iconic character.
