WONDER WOMAN Scribe Jason Fuchs Will Write the Script For ROBOTECH
Warner Bros. is moving forward with their development of a feature film adaptation of Robotech. According to Deadline, the studio has hired Wonder Woman scribe Jason Fuchs to write the script. I've gotta say... I have no problems with that.
Between him and director Andy Muschietti, who just directing IT, it seems like the live action Robotech film is in goods hands. I'm excited that we might actually see a pretty awesome adaptation of the classic 80s anime series.
Whatever has been done prior to Fuchs and Muschietti's involvement is being thrown out the window as they are going to be starting from scratch as they work on the script together. The film is a high priority for the studio, but Muschietti won't start production on it until after he makes the sequel to IT.
Robotech takes place at a time when Earth has developed giant robots from the technology on an alien spacecraft that crashed on a South Pacific isle. Mankind is forced to use the technology to fend off an alien invasion, with the fate of the human race ending up in the hands of two young pilots.
Robotech is one of those series I grew up watching and I would love nothing more than for this movie to turn out to be completely badass. Only time will tell if we will get something that the fans will actually embrace and enjoy.
