Wonderful and Inspiring New Trailer for the J.R.R. Tolkien Film TOLKIEN
Fox Searchlight has released a new trailer for their fantastic-looking new film Tolkien, which tells the story of legendary Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit author J.R.R. Tolkien. It dives into his life and the things that happened in it that inspired him to create Middle Earth and the stories that filled it.
Nicholas Hoult takes on the role of Tolkien, and the movie looks like an intense and inspiring journey. As a longtime fan of Tolkien’s work, this is a movie that I’ve very much looking forward to watching. As you’ll see, the movie also offers up some beautiful imagery inspired by his epic fantasy stories, like the dragon Smaug, who you can see above.
The movie will explore Tolkien’s early life and follow "the formative years of the orphaned author as he finds friendship, love and artistic inspiration among a fellow group of outcasts at school. This takes him into the outbreak of World War I, which threatens to tear the 'fellowship' apart. All of these experiences would inspire Tolkien to write his famous Middle-Earth novels."
The movie also stars Lily Collins as Edith, Tolkien’s wife, as well as Colm Meaney, Anthony Boyle, Patrick Gibson, Tom Glynn-Carney, Craig Roberts, Laura Donnelly, Genevieve O’Reilly, Pam Ferris, and Derek Jacobi.
Tolkien was directed by Dome Karukoski from a script written by David Gleeson and Stephen Beresford, and it will be released in theaters on May 1st.
