Wonderful MISSING LINK Featurette Takes Us Inside The Magic of Laika Studios
I love the work that Laika Studios has been doing with their films. The stop-motion animation work that they do is stunning and beautiful. They are making tangible works of art to create their films and tell their stories and that’s a dying art. The attention to detail that put into their work is amazing.
Their latest film is called Missing Link and today we have a new featurette to share with you that takes you inside the magic of Laika and shows you the incredible work that goes into creating these films. The video should give you a new found appreciation for the creative that builds these movies.
The story centers on Mr. Link, an 8 foot tall, 630 lb creature covered in fur, who happens to be funny, sweet, and adorably literal. “Tired of living a solitary life in the Pacific Northwest, Mr. Link recruits fearless explorer Sir Lionel Frost to guide him on a journey to find his long-lost relatives in the fabled valley of Shangri-La. Along with adventurer Adelina Fortnight, our fearless trio of explorers encounter more than their fair share of peril as they travel to the far reaches of the world to help their new friend.”
Laika is the studio behind Coraline, ParaNorman, and Kubo and the Two Strings, and Missing link looks like it’s going to be yet another great film from the studio. They also brought in a great cast for the film that includes Hugh Jackman, Zach Galifianakis, Zoe Saldana, Emma Thompson (Sense and Sensibility), Stephen Fry (The Hobbit), Timothy Olyphant (Justified), Matt Lucas (Alice in Wonderland), David Walliams (Little Britain), Amrita Acharia (Game of Thrones) and Ching Valdes-Aran (Nurse Jackie).
Missing Link was written and directed by Chris Butler (ParaNorman) and it will be released on April 19th, 2019. It’s said that the movie is “Bursting with humor, heart, and a profound message of acceptance and finding one’s place”.
