Woody Harrelson and Mandy Moore To Star in Roland Emmerich's WWII Action Film MIDWAY

Roland Emmerich (Independence Day, StarGate) is preparing to direct his next big action movie, and it doesn't deal with the world being obliterated by the fury of aliens or natural disasters. His next film is a World War II movie called Midway, which will tell the story of the legendary Battle of Midway.

According to Deadline, Woody Harrelson and Mandy Moore are in negotiations to join a strong ensemble cast of the film. There's no word yet on the actors who will join them, but it will be interesting to see who else they bring on board.

The film will tell the tale of the "turning point in the Pacific theater of World War II" and it "follows the soldiers and aviators who helped turn the tide of the war in June 1942."

This is a different kind of film project for Emmerich to take on. I'm sure the visuals will look great, but I really hope that he actually has a decent script to work with. Stories and scripts have never been Emmerich's strong points. I like the casting so far though!

What do you all think about Emmerich directing a film based on the Battle of Midway?
